Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

Jean Skaane

Founder and Educator

Jean’s work experience began decades ago working, playing and laughing with youth —her first job was as a mother’s helper for premature twins!  After years of working as a nanny through middle, high school and college, she found herself in the financial services sector, thinking more about paying the bills, and focused on customer service, operations management, and project management.  During this period, she also worked toward obtaining her MBA at Babson College with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and operations. Twenty-five years later, it’s no surprise to Jean that she has come full-circle and the audience she enjoys working with most are children and teens.

After taking time off to raise three children, Jean spent roughly 10+ hours a week founding, leading and serving on a variety of committees related to wellness, sustainability, and community-building. In 2013, she co-led a group of parents and faculty to design and implement 5,000 sq.ft of outdoor classroom and garden space at a K-3 public school in Marblehead, Massachusetts where she wrote and taught a sustainability-centric curriculum—including a foundation on the benefits of the herbs + vegetables being grown.  It was in this space that Jean incorporated her passion for mindfulness and witnessed profound results with the teachers and children.

Jean brings to kids, parents, and educators her experience in the business, educational, and wellness sectors as well as her own formal mindfulness, yoga, and functional nutrition practices.  She is committed to sharing the science, history, and practical aspects of mindfulness, yoga, and nutrition with her students and clients so that they might reap the benefits — greater clarity, improved communication, heightened awareness, creativity, openness, compassion, reduced stress and anxiety, and a healthy physical presence — throughout their daily lives, relationships, and future journey.

In addition to being a mom and wife, Jean takes every opportunity she can get to be outside, walking the dog, hiking with friends, swimming, skiing, gardening, and practicing mindfulness + yoga.  Jean enjoys creating nourishing foods for family and friends, and she finds great joy and comfort in nature.
